If Picasso Could Paint

You paint well, but the title struck me as conveying off-putting conceitedness, rather than humour, as though you think you're the greatest painter ever. As may have been mentioned, Picasso could paint just as well as this, in this style, as his early works indicate. I happen to prefer this style to the styles that made him famous. The trouble is that after Picasso it was no longer required for artists to paint like this, and demonstrate any mastery of the craft, in order to justify painting in other ways. The emphasis switched to shock and novelty and hype.

If you knew that Picasso painted academically and 'could paint' then the title seems hardly justified, unless you are just being controversial for the sake of it, like some jackass of a 'modernist'. I consider such gimmickry beneath a proper artist who 'can paint' in the timeless manner.
